Our Voice: Our Launch Event!

What we're doing

Our Voice is a new project which asks young people to show adult decision makers how to engage with young citizens. The young people who join the programme undertake a training programme to gain basic skills in Service Appraisal, Public Speaking, Team Work, Participation, Creative Consultation, Change Making and Leadership. We are holding an event in March 2013 to showcase the achievements of the current Crew Members and invite other young people and decision makers to be involved.

What happened?

Since September 2012, we have trained up a total of 128 AQA accredited, trained Crew Members.

We have visited lots of places, to tell Decision Makers, The Public and Commissioners about our new project, including:

-Local Area Commitee Meetings
-Schools and Colleges
-The Childrens Trust
-Youth Clubs
-IYSS Management Meeting

We've featured in the local press and won A 'Rotary Young Citizen of the Year' local award and a National Youth On Board (British Youth Council) award.

Our progress can be seen through our online blog.
