Explore the world at Bagshaw Museum

A Victorian former mill owner's house set in 36 acres of parkland and ancient woodland, the museum displays a wide range of unusual and exciting collections from around the globe.

Founded by Walter Bagshaw at the beginning of the twentieth century, the museum was created for the education of local people, and to introduce them to civilisations and cultures from around the world. A hundred years later, this award-winning museum still fulfils that vision. Bagshaw Museum is one of the few places in the north of England that offers children the opportunity to handle and investigate real objects from Ancient Egypt. Other galleries offer displays about mythical beasts, the culture of South Asia and the history of Batley.
