Advocacy means getting support from another person to:

  • Help you tell people what you want.
  • Help you make important decisions.

Who your advocate can be

Your advocate can be:

  • A friend or a family member.
  • Kirklees involvement network self-advocacy service
  • A provider that the council sets up for you, this will be through our provider Touchstone.

Touchstone

Touchstone is the advocacy provider for the council. An advocate arranged by Touchstone will help you to get the support that you need.

How to get an advocate

Decide if you would like a friend or family member, Kirklees Involvement Network or council provided advocate. Once you have chosen, you have three options:

  1. Ask a Friend or family member directly to become your advocate.
  2. Contact Kirklees Involvement Network (KIN) for support
  3. Find out more about Touchstone Ask 4 Advocacy provided by the council.
