Wherever you live in Kirklees, there's a Place Partnership working to understand your community's perspective on some key issues that matter to us all.

Place Partnerships are led by councillors, who work with local people and organisations to find local solutions, based on what the participants have learned or experienced. It's one of the ways in which we're working alongside people to make our local places even better.

What Place Partnerships do

The partnerships work on a key theme each year and they have funding to support local projects, services and activities that will help with this issue. Although the issue is the same for all the partnerships, the ways of responding to the issue are different. The partnerships use local insight to understand what will work best for people in each part of Kirklees.

Each partnership covers a number of different local areas.

Each partnership involves your local councillors and the councillors from other places nearby. It's important that all councillors in the area can participate, so that we can learn what might work well for each place.

Place Partnerships have already invested £1m in supporting people's mental health in local places and £400k in tackling domestic abuse.

Current theme

Our Place Partnerships are currently developing projects that support active travel. This might include ways of encouraging walking or cycling for everyday journeys.

£2m of funding is available to support active travel projects in local areas of Kirklees.

Your local Place Partnership

Wherever you live in Kirklees, there's a Place Partnership in your area. Councillors are working with community partners to understand local issues and to solve problems in a way that makes sense for your area. By connecting different people and organisations, the partnerships are also helping more people to work together in our local places.
