What you will do

Kirklees Local Studies Library holds the principal collection of local and family history material for the Kirklees area. This includes books, photographs, maps, newspapers, and other resources. We help our customers with a wide range of queries, including those from family historians, local historians and students. Can you help us deliver such a wide range of facilities and services?

You will help our Tourist Information Centre by offering information, resources and advice for visitors and locals on our area. You will sell a range of souvenirs and gifts, provide the box-office service for Town Halls and The Lawrence Batley Theatre, and give advice on local accommodation. Warm spaces volunteer

What you will do

Meet and greet customers, set up the warm drink workstation, creating a display for serving of warm drinks during the winter months. During your session you will be required to set up games, offer newspapers and introduce a craft activity and support film events. This role may vary from library to library. At the end of the session, you would need to break down the station and clear away games and activities.

English talk time volunteer

What you will do

Support library services helping people with little or no English. Helping people to learn English and get more involved in the wider community.

Supporting people to improve their English is a rewarding yet challenging experience. Focusing on the things people need to do in their everyday lives, such as going shopping, using public transport and going to the doctors, you will help learners to develop their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, as well as their confidence.
