Help to get to and from the hospital

Transport is available for essential hospital or medical appointments and other essential trips, such as picking up prescriptions or groceries.

They will bring you home and make sure you have everything you need for your first few days. If you still need assistance after that, they can provide up to 12 weeks of support depending on what level of help you need.

Age UK Home from Hospital service

Age UK: Home from Hospital service tells you about their transport and support service. It provides a safe, supported journey home and patients are met by an Age UK staff member or volunteer to provide immediate support at home.

Help with travel costs

If you are referred to hospital or other NHS premises for specialist NHS treatment or diagnostic tests by a doctor, dentist or another primary care health professional, you may be able to claim a refund of reasonable travel costs under the Healthcare Travel Costs Scheme (HTCS) .
