Arborists undertake tree stock management duties involving climbing, pruning, thinning, felling and dismantling trees. The work involves using climbing techniques, working with ropes, harnesses, strops and irons as well as using equipment such as chainsaws, wood chippers and grinding machinery. You complete documentation to ensure the Council can show that robust maintenance and monitoring regimes are in place. You help may need to be on standby, attend emergencies and undertaken tree work in bad weather.

It's a physical role which requires strenuous activity and work at heights.

Cleaning is carried out in council and customer buildings across the borough, including office areas, school classrooms, public toilets, public areas like markets and communal areas in council owned housing stock. Reporting to the Senior Cleaning Manager, the Area Cleaning Manager is responsible for the delivery of the cleaning service to customers in approximately 80 different buildings / locations. The role will manage the business on a day-to-day basis, and through supporting and motivating the cleaning teams, will ensure that a responsive, customer focused service is delivered. The role will be key in the relationship with customers through site visits where site base problems will need resolving to ensure the smooth running of cleaning operations and that customers are satisfied with the outcome. The Cleaning Service is a Traded Service and customer satisfaction is paramount in contract retention. The post will ensure that their buildings are effectively staffed, that staff are trained and that monitoring is undertaken on a regular basis.


Requirements

  • A financial interest in income generation and expenditure
  • An attention to detail to identify the need for corrective action if cleaning falls below the required standards.
  • Don't mind not being office based.
  • An awareness of Health and Safety legislation and COSHH and are able to interpret the guidance into safe working practices
  • The administrative skills to complete service documentation
  • Familiarity with IT packages, Word, Excel and the capacity to use bespoke data bases.
  • Experience of supervising staff.
