What we're doing

More information on what we're doing

Kirklees Council is currently carrying out a Community Governance Review. This is a legal process that allows the Council to review and consider whether changes are needed to parish arrangements, boundaries, or governance structures to better reflect local identities and interests.

The first Stage of this Review took place between the 1 October and 12th December 2025. We listened to the feedback residents shared during the consultation about how local parish and town councils represent communities. Based on what we learned, we've developed a set of draft proposals.

We are now asking for your views before any final decisions are made.

If you would like further information about the Community Governance Review or the proposals affecting your area, please visit our webpage: Kirklees Community Governance Review, Stage 2 Consultation.

The consultation closes on 20th April 2026. All responses received will be considered before final recommendations are presented to the Council.
