What we're doing

Kirklees Council intends to comply with The School Admissions (Admission Arrangements and Co-ordination of Admission Arrangements) (England) Regulations 2012 and the School Admissions Code 2014. The School Admissions Code (‘the Code’) has been issued under Section 84 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 (‘SSFA 1998’). The Code has been made following a consultation under Section 85(2) of the SSFA 1998.

During the period October to January admission authorities can consult on any proposed changes to their admission arrangements (admission policy and published admission number) that they plan to apply to children joining school in September of the following offer year.

Kirklees is the admission authority for all its community and voluntary controlled primary and secondary schools and is now consulting on the policy and published admission numbers for admission in September 2023.

What happened?

The consultation closed on 2nd January.

Admission arrangements will be determined by the 28th February 2021. The determined admission arrangements will be published by 15th March 2021.

What difference did the work make?

The cabinet report to determine the admission arrangements for 2023/24 went to cabinet and was approved.
All interested parties were able to comment during the consultation period upon the proposed admission arrangements.
Where changes to admission arrangements have been made following the consultation these are detailed in the cabinet report.
