The race route in Kirklees

Named ’The Heritage Stage’, on Saturday 2 May Kirklees will witness Stage Three of the Men’s race (134km) and the second and final stage of the Women’s race (114.5km)

After leaving Barnsley the riders will progress through Penistone and Holmfirth before the first categorised climb at Netherthong. The race continues through Meltham, Marsden and Slaithwaite, before the next big climb at Scapegoat Hill. The riders will then travel north to Halifax and beyond before travelling south again via Brighouse into Kirklees for the big finishes in Huddersfield town centre, alongside St George’s Square. The winner of the Asda Tour de Yorkshire Women’s Race will be crowned before the male riders’ battle it out for stage success.

About the Tour de Yorkshire

Now in its 6th year, the Tour de Yorkshire began as a legacy event following the success of the Grand Depart in Yorkshire for the Tour de France in 2014.

The sixth edition of the men's race will take place between 30 April—3 May 2020 and form part of the inaugural UCI ProSeries. Its new 2.Pro classification remains the highest-possible status for a multi-day race outside of the UCI WorldTour. It encompasses all four corners of the county and takes in 160 villages, towns and cities along the way.

The Asda Tour de Yorkshire Women's Race meanwhile, runs between 1—2 May and will once again offer equal prize money to the men, making it one of the most lucrative races in the sport. The final stage of this race will be decided in Huddersfield on 2 May.

Further information about the 2020 Tour de Yorkshire and route is available on the Tour de Yorkshire website.
