Kirklees Local Offer is aimed at providing information about the support and services that children and young people aged 0-25, who have special educational needs and disabilities, and their families can get in one place.

Coronavirus (COVID-19)

We are aware that many families of children and young people with SEND will be affected by the current measures taken to manage the situation.

On 22 March 2020, The Department for Education and Public Health England issued covid-19 guidance on vulnerable children and young people. Vulnerable children include those who have a social worker and those children and young people up to the age of 25 with education, health and care (EHC) plans.

Some schools and settings are working to maintain a skeleton staff in order to support vulnerable children and the children of key workers. Government advice states that if a child can safely remain at home, they should do so. Please be aware that advice is changing daily and the current measures are subject to change.

Visit our resources page for resources for parents and children that may help during this period.

The additional needs register

This is a register for children and young people aged 0 to 25 whose parents or carers have notified us of a disability or additional need that impacts on their day to day life. It is completely voluntary and confidential and the information is used to determine where funding could be best used for optimum benefits.

By registering your child, you will be made aware of specific support and leisure activities available in your local area. The register also helps us to ensure parents have the most up to date information and to help plan future services. You will also be entitled to a free 'Flexi Card' with Kirklees Active Leisure giving your family a 20% discount on a wide range of activities.
