Kirklees Duke of Edinburgh Award Trust

Kirklees Duke of Edinburgh Award Trust provides young people with the opportunity to build skills and prepare for adult life. Each stage is tailored to the individual and achieving their personal goals. Through fundraising the Trust was able to develop a site at Little Deer Wood, creating an accessible environment for children, including those with physical and learning disabilities.

Conscious Youth

Conscious Youth is a community organisation that looks to inspire young people in Kirklees to reach their potential. The group empower young members of the community to take part in social justice campaigns, run culture-sharing events to address ethnic and cultural division in the community, and offer guidance to young people looking to build skills for employment or further education.

Dial Wood Carriage Driving for the Disabled

This Flockton based charity is run completely by volunteers and is part of the Riding for the Disabled Association. Disabled adults and children are invited to enjoy activities like horse riding and carriage driving. The horses act as therapy, fitness and provide the opportunity to develop skills.

Huddersfield Town Foundation

The Huddersfield Town Foundation is utilising the power of the brand of the football club to engage and inspire the local community. The focus of the Foundation centres on sport, inclusion, education and health. The Foundation provides for everyone in the community, leading to create positive change for all.

Destitute Asylum Seekers Huddersfield (DASH)

DASH looks to provide relief and support to asylum seekers and refugees in Kirklees, empowering them to create positive lives. In offering this support, DASH aims to improve social cohesion in the wider community. Among their services the charity organises informational drop-ins and offer befrienders to assist at critical appointments, helping people to achieve their stability from which they can rebuild their lives.
