The Civic Quarter
Three schemes have been completed as part of the improvements to The Civic Quarter. These include:
The story so far
The Civic Quarter area captures the site of current Civic Centre buildings, the Magistrates' Court, Police Station, and the Bus Station. Although there are no current plans to change any of the buildings in this area, enhancements to the public realm are necessary to improve access.
We are also considering introducing new housing, bringing a new energy to the Civic Quarter. This is a long-term ambition.
What's next
Half Moon Street, Sergeantson Street, George Street, and Fox Street
These streets have been identified for improvements, which will improve the accessibility for pedestrians and car users. Improvements will also be made by introducing new islands near the junctions of these roads.
