Proposed options for further consultation - Holme Valley area

View the proposed options from the 2nd phase consultation, which were open for comment 16th February - 8th May

Option 1 - no change to the existing parish arrangements.

Map: Holme Valley Civil Parish - option 1: (no change)

Option 2 (our recommended option) - redrawing of the boundary to transfer the existing part of Thurstonland village that is within the Holme Valley Parish Council area to Kirkburton Parish Council

Holme Valley Civil Parish - option 2: minor boundary change
Holme Valley Civil Parish - option 2: Thurstonland minor boundary change (enlarged)
Thurstonland

Our view:
  • This alteration would require a consequent change to the Kirklees district ward boundary between the wards of Holme Valley North and Kirkburton, we welcome comments on this proposed change
  • Residents in Thurstonland are currently split between Holme Valley Parish Council and Kirkburton Parish Council - these people have a shared sense of community, so it is appropriate for all the residents to be represented by a single parish council.
  • This would mean a small number of electors (about 80 people) moving between the two parishes
  • With the exception of the above change, the current boundary and warding arrangements provide a good basis for the future administration of the parish council
