Kirklees Council are carrying out a review of the five parish and town councils in Kirklees. This is called a 'Community Governance Review'. The review covers: Denby Dale, Mirfield, Meltham, Kirkburton and Holme Valley.
The review opened on the 6th October 2008 with a first phase of consultation, where we asked people to give their views on whether parish and town councils:
- reflect the identities and interests of the community in their area
- are effective
- are convenient.
The deadline for submitting comments to the first phase closed at 12 noon on Friday 28th November 2008.
During December 08 and January 09 Kirklees Council will analyse the comments and draft a set of provisional options/recommendations. Those options/recommendations will then form the basis of a second 12 week phase of consultation starting February 2009.
