The Mayor's Charity Appeal 2011-12 - supporting The Forget Me Not Children's Hospice
AIM
The Mayor's Charity for 2011-12 is aiming to raise £100,000 to help The Forget Me Not Children's Hospice in their most important year ever.
WHO WILL IT BENEFIT?
The Forget Me Not Children's Hospice supports children with life limiting illnesses and their families across Kirklees.
The children who need their support suffer from a range of conditions, including muscular dystrophy, severe cerebral palsy, cancer, organ failure,
and many other conditions. Some of the children may live for a very short time, others may live for many years, but the lives of all of them will
be severely shortened by their condition. They all need individual specialist care. In addition the families of children with life limiting
conditions face immense practical and emotional challenges. All the money raised through this appeal will go directly to helping these children
and families here in Kirklees.
THE FORGET ME NOT CHILDREN'S HOSPICE
Although originally established more than 10 years ago, this year is the most important year ever for the Forget Me Not Children's Hospice.
They have already begun caring for children and families through their recently launched Hospice at Home service; and their Hospice building will be
completed before the end of this year, enabling them to welcome children and families from across Kirklees who need their support.
Forget Me Not Children's Hospice is here to care for the whole child and for the whole family in whichever way they need.
Above all they exist to help each child live their lives, however short, to their fullest potential; and to support parents and siblings throughout the
child's life and beyond.
