Service Description:

The delivery of Housing Services is divided between Kirklees Housing Services and Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing Ltd. Kirklees Housing Services own the houses and have strategic responsibility of the service. Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing is a council owned company and is responsible for the management and landlord functions of the council's 25,000 homes.

Kirklees Housing Services operations are:
  • Working with communities and partners to deliver neighbourhood regeneration.
  • Supporting and developing our partnerships with other housing providers, such as housing associations to ensure the provision of affordable homes across all tenures.
  • Providing information and advice on housing options helping to prevent homelessness.
  • Providing help and advice to disabled people about how to live more independently in their own home or rented property. Administering grants and loans for adapting homes to meet the needs of disabled people.
  • Providing advice and assistance on improving housing conditions for home owners and private tenants through a package of loans, grant aid and enforcement action.
  • Administering a landlord and property accreditation scheme for the private rented sector.
  • Delivering the Supporting People programme across Kirklees ensuring the provision of housing related support services to a range of vulnerable people.
  • Providing accommodation and support services for vulnerable people including: asylum seekers, refugees and young tenants.

Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing operations are as follows:
  • Manages the council's 25,000 homes on behalf of the council - including repairs and maintenance, estate issues and problems, collection of rent and service charges, nuisance and harassment and the re-letting of empty properties.
  • Advises on re-housing options in Kirklees and elsewhere.
Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing is a council owned company and is subject to the same policies and procedures as directed by the Council, therefore the following sections of this site will apply to all providers of Housing Services.
