Service Description:
We provide education for about 63,601 children (at Jan 2006) in 195
schools across Kirklees: in the towns of Batley, Cleckheaton, Dewsbury,
Huddersfield and Mirfield and in the rural areas of the Colne, Dearne
and Holme valleys. We aim to ensure that each individual is able to
access an educational provision which allows her or his potential
to be fully realised.
We are committed to the highest possible quality of educational opportunities
which are socially inclusive and responsive to the needs and aspirations
of all. We believe that education is vital to the future of the people
of Kirklees. It is a source of personal development and fulfillment.
It contributes to the competence and confidence of individuals and
communities and provides a basis for the economic strength which allows
aspirations to be fulfilled.
We are determined to raise standards and through our Education Development
Plan we will deliver programs which will raise standards and achievement.
We work in partnership with our schools and, in our Strategic Framework,
we have set out our duties and responsibilities as well as our statutory
obligations. We clearly state our key objectives which relate to Inclusion
and Cohesion leading to Attainment
