Children & Young People Plan
The Children & Young People Plan sets out our ambitions for improving the lives of children, young people and families in Kirklees.

We have consulted widely with children, young people, parents and carers and those who work with them to draw up a picture of needs and help us identify priorities for improvement.

The Local Public Service Board for Children, Young People & Families (which represents Kirklees Council, Health, Police, Schools and the voluntary sector) is responsible for making sure we make the improvements set out in the plan.  They are committed to developing new and better ways of services working together and involving children, young people and families in planning and reviewing what we do.

This is an expression of the educational philosophy which helps shape the ethos of education in Kirklees.  It briefly explains the statutory requirements of the curriculum and acts as a reference point to inform the realisation of the potential of the curriculum.

A very broadly-based multi-agency group drawn from the statutory, voluntary, and independent sectors have produced this Framework over the last year. It has been the subject of widespread consultation throughout the process of its preparation, with children and young people, with parents, and latterly with organisations through a targeted consultation process between October and December 2006. A substantial issue has emerged about the value of play, and what we need to do in Kirklees to support its development.
