Appeals Panel

The Appeals Panel is responsible for dealing with a wide range of appeals which people submit to the Council when their application and/or request for a service has been refused.
Examples include school appeals (where a child has been refused a place at a particular school.

Grants Advisory Committee

The Grants Advisory Committee considers applications from local organisations for most types of grant aid funding involving the Council.

Licensing & Safety Panel

The Licensing & Safety Panel is responsible for dealing with a wide range of licensing functions on behalf of the services within the Council. Examples include the licensing of Hackney carriages, private hire vehicles, public entertainment licenses and the safety of sports grounds.

Personnel Committee & Appointment Panels

The Personnel Committee deals with a number of issues regarding the employment, terms and conditions and working practices of the Council's employees.

The Committee also has the ability to create Appointment Panels to oversee the process used to recruit and appoint people to the senior management posts within the structures of the Council.

Planning Committees

There are two Area Planning Committees:
Huddersfield area.
Heavy Woollen area.

A new Kirklees Planning and Highways Committee has been established to maintain an overview of their work and to deal with issues which they may have to refer for decision.

Standards Committee

The Standards Committee deals with all issues regarding the provision of advice, support and training about the conduct and standards which all 72 Councillors who serve on the Council have to abide by. It also deals with complaints and questions from Councillors, employees and members of the public about the behaviour and conduct of Councillors.
