The Full Council meeting

The Full Council meeting provides a regular opportunity for all of the 69 Councillors in Kirklees to meet together to discuss issues of concern and
to review the work of the Cabinet and the Overview & Scrutiny Committee.
The Council acts as community leader, determining policy and agreeing the overall community strategies and key plans for the Kirklees area.
The responsibilities of the full Council include:
- Considering and agreeing new policies
- Approving the budget and spending plans of the Council and its services
- Challenging the Cabinet and holding it to account
- Considering the work of the Overview & Scrutiny Committee
- Representation of local community interests
- Providing leadership for the community
- Encouraging public participation in decision making

The Council Business Committee
The Council Business Committee is a committee of the Council responsible for developing and managing the role and business of future Council meetings.
It meets between Council meetings to look back on the issues raised in the previous meeting and to prepare for the next meeting.
