The Cabinet is the executive decision-making body within the council's structures, which is chaired by Councillor Robert C Light. Its full membership includes:
Each Cabinet Councillor has a specific portfolio of work for which he or she is responsible. Cabinet Councillors report back to the Cabinet on a regular basis on the work which they or their Services are doing. Councillors on the Cabinet also work together on a collective basis to deal with a much broader range of issues.
Cabinet Meetings take place every two weeks (with the exception of those days when the Full Council meetings take place).
Cabinet meetings are public meetings and members of the public are encouraged to attend and to offer their contributions and ideas regarding the agenda items. Details on all of these meetings are incorporated within the council's Calendar of Meetings.
The Leader of the Council and the Cabinet are also required to publish a Forward Plan of Key Decisions to highlight any significant items within their work programme over the next 4 months.
