Winter

Winter maintenance is an important role for our Highways and Transportation Service. We carry out winter maintenance to allow all road users to move about as safely as possible and to help minimise delays caused by adverse weather conditions.

Our winter maintenance service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is in place whenever the weather demands.

Weather update (Last updated: 11/02/2016 13:01:25)

Some sunny intervals this afternoon but also a fair amount of cloud and a few wintry showers pushing in from the south-west later in the afternoon. Through evening and tonight it will become mostly dry again with clear spells developing, but there will be an increasing risk of wintry showers returning during the early hours of the morning, when they could fall as snow. A few patches of freezing fog may form too. A cold night. Tomorrow will be cloudy initially with a risk of further wintry showers, falling as snow at higher elevations but they should be fairly light. It will become largely dry with sunny spells developing in the afternoon. A largely dry and mostly clear evening too. Snow summary: Friday 00-0900: Risk of snow showers falling down to around 150m, with accumulations of up to 1cm possible. However, confidence is low concerning snow amounts and heights at present.
