Rolling countryside, beautiful gardens and parkland - perfect for a relaxing group day out.

Morning

Visit the enchanting 1830s garden at Red House Museum, Gomersal, where Charlotte Brontë often stayed with her friend Mary Taylor. See delicious scented old roses climbing arbour and arches; ornamental 'flower basket' beds and borders filled with unusual authentic old flower varieties and stroll in Charlotte's footsteps around ancient tree shaded lawns. Next stop, visit the award-winning Country Park at Oakwell Hall, Birstall.

Afternoon

Parks and gardens

After enjoying lunch in the park cafe spend a lazy afternoon in Wilton Park, Batley by exploring the 36 acres of parkland and ancient woodland and taking a walk around the large lake, home to hundreds of water birds throughout the year. Stop off for a dairy delight and have a traditional '99 ice cream.
