Denby Dale - Events
As Denby Dale has a history of, and achieved world renown for, record breaking pies, a visit to the village is not complete without seeing the pie dish, which is found outside Denby Dale Pie Hall. The dish, which between bakings is planted with flowers, stretches to 18 feet. and was last used in 2000, when a 12-tonne pie was made to celebrate the Millennium.
Together with surrounding villages the area offers an interesting array of shops, restaurants and cafés or for something a bit special enjoy a ride on the nearby Kirklees Light Railway for a memorable journey across the Dearne Valley taking in views of Emley Moor TV mast, Blacker Wood and travelling through the longest tunnel of a narrow gauge railway in Britain.
