The Sair Inn at Linthwaite

Pubs and real ale

For those who appreciate a pint of real ale and a spot of pub grub, there are many pubs in Kirklees that will satisfy the heartiest of appetites.

Award winning real ale

Kirklees is home to several pubs that brew their own, unique real ales. The Sair Inn at Linthwaite is probably the best known of the region's brewpubs. The multi CAMRA award-winning pub offers an ever-changing range of up to 10 beers and ales.

The Rose and Crown - known locally as The Nook - off Victoria Square Holmfirth, has achieved the distinction of appearing in all of the last 30 editions of the national Good Beer Guide.

The Rat and Ratchet in Huddersfield has a reputation for producing excellent ale from its microbrewery. Enjoy a pint of Meltham Magic at the Riverhead Brewery Tap at Marsden, another of the area's notable microbreweries.

Cider and real ale tasting takes place in Huddersfield Town Centre during the food festival in August, providing many opportunities to visit some of the town's finer establishments.

Pub grub

Many of the pubs in Kirklees offer quality menus, the ingredients often sourced locally and prepared by trained chefs. Try the Woodman Inn at Thunderbridge, which has a restaurant on the premises with a fine selection of cask ales and wines.

The Riverhead Brewery Tap at Marsden brews a number of ales including the Cuckoo Pint to celebrate Marsden Cuckoo Festival and the Bandsman Bitter, specially brewed for the Marsden Brass Band Competition!

The award winning Red Lion Inn situated in Jackson Bridge, Holmfirth, overlooks a row of cottages used as a filming location for Last of the Summer Wine.
