Local produce
Local produce is to be found in abundance in Kirklees. The area is home to many farm shops and markets each
offering something fresh, tasty and unique. Hard to find spices, fruit and vegetables fresh from the allotment
bursting with colour and taste, sumptuous cakes and treats that are hard to resist, home reared meats, award
winning sausages and pies...
Farmers markets
Take a taste of your visit home with a visit to Holmfirth
farmers market and Cleckheaton farmers market. Homemade cakes
and biscuits, a diverse range of jams and preserves to complement scones and bread, warming winter soups and
stews, fresh organic fruit and vegetables will all inspire the discerning palate.
Local producers supply many of the local shops and eateries with an abundance of mouth watering goods, look out
for cakes from Ridings of Yorkshire located in the picturesque
Colne Valley, and wines from the Splash Winery in
the Holme Valley, made using a range of fresh fruit, flowers and berries. The famous range of Denby Dale pies
feature in a number of stores and cafes.
The area has much to offer in the way of traditional Yorkshire fare. Yorkshire pudding is a regular on most menus
and Yorkshire Curd Tarts, Fat Rascals and Parkin are available at most bakeries.
Why not take a reminder of your visit home, and delight family and friends with a delicious taste of Pennine
Yorkshire. |
Hinchliffe's farm food
The rich taste of pork, cheddar and chive sausages is reason enough for a visit to Hinchliffes. But their traditional pies and pasties all made from the best in organic produce is another reason for a visit to the local farm fayre legends.
