Play golf amidst stunning scenery

Golf

Kirklees might not immediately spring to mind as a place to take a golfing break, but with 15 golf clubs in or on the fringe of the borough (in the heart of some of Britain's most stunning scenery), the district is a very good venue for golf.

With courses designed by legendary architects James Braid (designer of Woodsome Hall), and Donald Steel (designer of Bradley Park) as well as a unique 6 hole course (Castlefields) there are courses and challenges for players of all ages and abilities.

Bradley Park Golf Course

Opened in 1977, the course was designed by legendary golf architect Donald Steel, whose courses, including Forest of Arden, Vila Sol (Portugal) and Gardagolf (Italy), frequently host professional tour tournaments. Donald Steel has always used a policy of seeking to protect nature whilst making best use of the terrain. His initial design of the course has been carefully developed through the years such that the holes are varied and challenging and the views often stunning.
