Family fun

Keeping the family entertained is easy with our wide range of attractions and activities to suit all ages.

Meet the ancestors at Tolson Museum, re-live your childhood at Dewsbury Museum or, if you're really brave, handle the reptiles at Ponderosa Rare Breeds Centre. Travel to Ancient Egypt and the Americas at Bagshaw Museum, or step back in time and discover our textile heritage at the Colne Valley Museum.

Climb aboard the Kirklees Light Railway for an 8-mile round trip, or journey 450ft underground at the National Coal Mining Museum for England. If that doesn't tire you out, how about a trip to one of our indoor adventure and activity centres.

Hinchliffe's open farm

There's some unusual residents in the village of Netherton. The kune kune pig from New Zealand was brought back from near extinction in the 1970s. Meet him, a South American alpaca, a pygmy goat and the family of fascinating animals at Hinchliffe's open farm.
