Parks and nature reserves

Across the district there are a number of parks and nature reserves open for your enjoyment. The council manages eight local nature reserves each boasting its own individual habitat, ranging from ancient woodlands to newly created ponds. Activities run throughout the year to help people explore and learn about wildlife, and to encourage people to get involved in conservation - check out our What's on section for more information.

The three main public parks in the district (Greenhead Park, Crow Nest Park and Wilton Park) offer a variety of recreational activities for all ages. A series of band concerts take place across the parks throughout the summer and Greenhead Park hosts the annual Huddersfield Mela.
Greenhead Park

A short walk from Huddersfield Town Centre, Greenhead Park is a great place for some time out.

Experience the tranquility of the trees, shrubs and ornamental gardens.

The park has fun activities for all ages and tastes - tennis, bowls , crazy golf, putting, plus a paddling pool, skate park and miniature steam railway.
