Holmfirth Art Week
Celebrating 40 creative years and 40 years of charitable giving.
Holmfirth Art Week is now a local event with a national reputation - most of the 390 exhibitors are from this
area, but visitors come from all over the country to look and to buy. The main exhibition in the Civic Hall runs
all week, as well as 24 smaller fringe venues around the Holme Valley. This annual event regularly raises in
excess of £30,000 for Macmillan Cancer Relief and has set itself the target of raising £40,000 this year.
Huddersfield Carnival
Huddersfield Carnival is a glorious celebration of Caribbean culture. At the Carnival Costume Show, Queens and
Kings display their unique costumes and the winners are crowned. The Procession of costumes and masqueraders
on Saturday washes the streets of Huddersfield with colour as it winds through the town to Greenhead Park for
the finale.
World Together
Kirklees has become the home to people and communities whose family origins and cultural heritage are spread all over the world.
With established white British, Irish, South Asian, West Indian, Chinese and East European communities in addition to refugee and asylum seeking communities, Kirklees is perhaps one of the most culturally diverse regions in the UK.
World Together celebrates this rich diversity in art, dance and music, by providing a platform to showcase the talent, art and skills within our local communities in order to enjoy each other's culture, music, history and traditions
Cleckheaton Folk Festival
Music from international and UK-based folk acts in a full weekend of family entertainment. Complemented with The
Continental Market and Craft Fair, workshops, games and celebrations.
