Welcome to Kirklees

Whatever your request we're here to make sure you enjoy your trip. Please do not hesitate to contact us via email at tourism@kirklees.gov.uk to let us assist you with your holiday preparations.

Getting around

Kirklees has an excellent transport network, please contact individual providers for more information and further assistance.

Car

Disabled car parking facilities are available at a number of Kirklees Council car parks.
  • Contact Kirklees Parking Office on 01484 223222 for locations.

Bus

A number of low-floor easy access buses operate across the district. For details please contact Metro on 0113 245 7676 between 7am and 10pm. Braille, large print and audio services are also available.

Trains

Main line stations at Huddersfield, Dewsbury and Batley are accessible for travellers with a disability.
  • Contact National Rail enquiries on 0845 748 4950 for information about access to individual stations and the services available.

Shopping

Kirklees has a Shopmobility scheme as part of the nationwide scheme Shopmobility. Why struggle with shopping when you can let the scooter take the strain? To help town centre shoppers with limited mobility you can use Shopmobility scooters and powered wheelchairs to call at the bank, visit the library, meet with friends, enjoy a meal or simply to browse around the shops. Many town centres are pedestrianised for better access to facilities, improved safety and greater comfort, and crossing points are provided on a number of town centres streets.
