How do you decide where to place a school crossing patrol?
School crossing patrols are provided where children are in danger from road traffic when walking to school.
This is not necessarily directly outside a school but could be anywhere on a direct route to a school.
Can I request a school crossing patrol?
If you want to make a request for additional school crossing patrols, please complete the
School crossing patrols request form.
On receipt of a request a Road Safety Officer will survey the area to see if it meets criteria which includes a vehicle and pedestrian
count.
How many School Crossing Patrols does Kirklees operate?
Currently Kirklees have 95 school crossing patrols in operation.

What are the hours of work for a school crossing patrol?
The hours of work are flexible and can vary at each school crossing patrol site.
As a guide patrols work from as little as five hours up to 10 hours per week when the children are going to and from school.

We will then send you an application form and relevant details.
