Bikes, accessories and equipment to loan

Loan items (Please note: this is only available to KBUG members)

We hope that you will be able to try a car/bus/or rail assisted commute to work and in return gain some exercise, save CO2, save on parking fees, and pass by congestion. If you are not using the bike for commuting then we hope it will introduce you to our world of cycling pleasure, and we can provide a lock, helmet, and tool kit during the loan. Contact KBUG.

KBUG has a bike camera that can be used to record your journey or your excursion, it can record details of danger hotspots in traffic or promote off road treks. Contact KBUG

Business mileage allowance (Please note: this is only available to Kirklees Council employees)
Business mileage allowance is payable to Kirklees staff for cycling between sites.

Cycle parking facilities

View the list of facilities below to find details of cycle parking facilities at locations around Kirklees. Some of these are staff only facilities. If you know of any other facilities at other locations, please let Kirklees Bicycle User Group (KBUG) know. Email kbug@kirklees.gov.uk.

Grants supported by the Energy and Water Conservation Fund are available of up to £2,500 for Council Workplace Cycle Facilities. They can cover 100% of project costs up to a maximum of £2,500 per work-site. Grants will fund:
  • Cycle parking stands/lockers
  • Office "pool" bike
  • Kit lockers
  • Drying facilities
  • Washing/showering facilities

 A few metal stands under the car park entrance ramp outside the bus station. None None Poor According to Bus Station staff, the facility is nothing to do with them. Security seems poor. It is not readily observed, not signposted.

 Cycle wheel stands. Also Sheffield stands behind the ramped area, are good. Outside the childrens library None Poor Not visible, poor security, front wheel can be left behind, and can easily be buckled. Not suitable for bike stands.

Any visitors would be best off calling the staff member they are visiting, so they can be shown to the facilities.
