Over 300 riders have signed up for the event and event registration is now closed. Maps will be available on the morning of the ride and the route will be signed and key junctions marshalled.

The ride will take in the rural districts of Kirklees, West Yorkshire, including; the Holme Valley and Denby Dale. The route will also tackle some of the famous South Pennine climbs including Holme Moss.

The event takes place on Sunday 27 April 2008 and in a change to last year, the starting point will be the YMCA Sports and Social Club, Laund Hill, Salendine Nook. (Easily accessed from the M62 Junctions 23 and 24 and Huddersfield town centre).
with overflow parking at Salendine Nook School.

There is an Entry fee of £15 with all profits going to charity. Riders that have registered for the event can arrive from 8.00am with the bike ride starting at 9.00am.

We are retaining the free feeder stations as per last years ride and refreshments will be available to purchase from the YMCA before and after the ride.

The ride will support once more the chosen charity for the Mayor of Kirklees, which this year is the Forget Me Not Trust.

Initial feedback on the new route is positive...

Well done on the route planning - you've managed to circumnavigate Huddersfield without touching any really built up areas and taking in some fabulous countryside. It avoids all the busy areas we went through last year.

The start over Buckstones is a great idea - a nice steady long climb to get everyone 'tuned up'. I regularly commute this route and it's my favourite.

A great training event for the Etape du Dales. Given a route like this it may become a classic in its own right in the future. Hope and plan to be there.
