Anyone can volunteer - there are roles and hours to suit everyone.

Why not put something back into your community and start volunteering?

Health and social care volunteering

We provide information and support in exploring volunteering opportunities in adult health and social care.

Opportunities include:

  • supporting a person with a learning disability to take part in every day activities and social outings
  • helping at coffee mornings and luncheon clubs
  • spending time helping people in a Kirklees Council residential carehome or with day opportunities
  • driving a minibus for a community group.

Many more opportunities are available, please ask us.

Supported Volunteering Service

Our Supported Volunteering Project helps people who want to volunteer but may need extra support to do so. If you think you need extra support or feel unable to start volunteering yourself then we can help.

You may need extra support because you have:

  • physical disabilities
  • mental health needs
  • learning disabilities
  • sensory impairments
  • lack of confidence
  • caring responsibilities.

Some of the things we can support you with include:

  • deciding what type of activity you would like to do and finding the right opportunity
  • completing application forms and contacting organisations on your behalf
  • helping you get to your first meeting, interview or volunteering opportunity
  • helping you to get adaptations or equipment that might help you volunteer
  • learning your role and gaining the confidence to volunteer on your own
  • understanding your rights and responsibilities as a volunteer.

We provide on going advice and support to all our volunteers so that you enjoy your volunteering role.
