Formed from a mix of old woodland, farmland and a reclaimed colliery, over 110 acres of well managed country park surrounds the gardens and the Hall.

The country park has won the Green Flag Award for excellence in green space management for the last five years and has grown to be an important site for recreation, training and wildlife conservation.

The gardens are open daily from 9am till 4.30pm, except Christmas bank holidays. The car park close to the Hall is open from 9am till 5pm and is ideally suited to exploring the gardens, Hall and cafe as well as the country park.

The Countryside Centre car park is open all day and is ideal for visiting the play area. The car parks are linked by a good network of footpaths, along with disabled access.
