The Creative Events Partners are a core group of community organisations in Kirklees that receive annual investment from Kirklees Council to run regular
arts events and festivals which make a key contribution to the cultural life and economy of the Kirklees district. The programme is managed by the
Arts and Creative Economy (ACE) team. The council invests in the selected organisations for three years. The Creative Events Partners are then reviewed.
To become a Creative Events Partner, organisations are assessed, through an application process, on their ability to contribute to the achievement of key actions in Creative Kirklees, the arts and creative development strategy for Kirklees. They are also assessed on whether the organisation is well managed and the artistic quality of their work. Officers take into account the geographical spread of organisations and their events and festivals when deciding on the final portfolio of creative events partners. The current scheme runs from 2011 to 2014.

An artists' open studio event across Kirklees featuring many different artists in different venues, providing opportunities for people throughout the region to meet artists to discuss and buy their work. Featuring hands on workshops and taster sessions for visitors. 
The only LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans) Pride event in Kirklees provides a safe place for the LGBT community to express themselves and to celebrate their identity and contribution to Kirklees. While being a celebration of LGBT pride, the event is open to all and prides itself on being accessible and enjoyable by families. The Pink Picnic includes a main stage with performances and DJs, Pride Art activities, information and advice stalls, market stalls, food stalls and fun fair. 
Annual jazz festival which takes place over the second weekend in October. Over 60 jazz music concerts and events are put on over the weekend around Marsden. 
A 3 day weekend festival celebrating traditional folk arts from Britain and beyond. Featuring over 30 different events including seated concerts in a large marquee, smaller acoustic concerts, dance displays and street theatre. Participation in dance, workshops and music sessions. 
A week-long bi-ennial lantern and storytelling festival, comprising pre-festival workshops, lantern making sessions, storytelling programme and the festival finale. In addition to the bi-ennial festival there is an extended programme of activities that offer creative skill development. 
Free family friendly music festival in Green Park, Heckmondwike including free children's entertainment. Live music by a wide range of performers including rock, pop and folk. |
