Kirklees Creative Summit 2012

  • 21st February 2012
    Lawrence Batley Theatre, Huddersfield
    12.00 noon to late pm

The 2012 Summit is a participatory gathering, mainly for the local creative sector itself. It is a chance to connect, reflect and celebrate; nourish and be nourished; be inspired and upbeat. The importance of being resilient, forward-looking and optimistic in a time of austerity and challenge is an inevitable subtext of the event.

The booking site Creative Gifts: Kirklees Creative Summit (external site) tells you how to:
  • get an overview of the summit
  • see the programme
  • find out more about Professor Paul Robertson, our key-note speaker; the Menu of Provocations and The Price of Everything
  • get a welcome cuppa and sandwich for lunch - and have a good conversation over a luscious sit down afternoon tea
  • Book your place by Weds 15th February.
Summit places are limited and on a 'first come, first served' basis.

Tickets - including a sandwich on arrival and afternoon tea - are £10 for amateur and voluntary; £15 for individual artists and arts workers; £20 for regularly funded and non profit organisations and commercial businesses with staff.

Kirklees Creative Summit 2010

Kirklees Creative Summit took place on Wednesday 15th September 2010 at the Creative Arts Building, University of Huddersfield.

It was sold out with 160 people attending and more on a waiting list. The presentations and workshops explored the themes, ambitions and priorities of the Creative Kirklees strategy, launched that day.

The report distils the key points from the summit overall, followed by key points and then more detail from each presentation and workshop.

Creative Kirklees - the arts and creative economy development strategy

The purpose of Creative Kirklees is to support and develop the arts and creative industries so that they can thrive and continue to benefit the people of Kirklees. The strategy covers support for commercial creative businesses, non-profit distributing arts organisations which employ staff, amateur arts groups and individual artists.

Creative Kirklees also seeks to enable more people to enjoy the arts as participants and/or audience members - and to encourage other sectors to use creative methods to achieve their aims.

The development of Creative Kirklees was overseen by a partnership-based project board and has been approved by Kirklees Council's Cabinet.
