Key decisions and private reports

Cabinet, 2024

The Local Authorities (Executive Arrangements) (Meeting and Access to Information) (England) Regulations 2012 requires local authorities operating executive arrangements to give 28 clear days’ notice of every key decision which is due to be taken. In addition, the Regulations stipulate that 28 clear days’ notice should also be given for any decisions that are to be considered in private.

The list of key decisions and private reports due to be taken within Kirklees Council over the next few months can be accessed by clicking the Forward Plan links below. Details will be published at least 28 clear days before the decision is due to be taken.

What is a 'Key Decision'?

A key decision is an executive decision which is likely to:

• result in the Authority incurring expenditure or making savings over £500,000 per annum, or

• have a significant effect on communities living or working in an area comprising two or more wards

Where a key decision will need to be taken more urgently than it would be possible to give 28 days' notice for, a General Exception Notice or Special Urgency Notice will be published setting out the reasons for the decision being taken urgently.
