More information on what we're doing

This is an assessment for Kirklees Council employees.

By completing this self-assessment, you will:
- identify where you are on the journey to establishing good GDPR compliance practices
- be able to identify areas you might need more help
- help the organisation identify our GDPR assurance status

The Self-Assessment is conducted against five distinct levels of development:
1 - Not started - This level describes an environment where GDPR issues are not addressed, are addressed minimally or addressed in a sporadic manner.
Level 2 - Planning: This level describes an environment where there is a basic understanding of GDPR risks but these are not yet identified as having a resolution.
Level 3 - Developing: This level describes an environment where there is a developing recognition that GDPR has an impact on the organisation and that the organisation may benefit from a more defined GDPR approach.
Level 4 - Implementing: This level describes the essential or minimum requirements that must be addressed to meet the Council's legal, regulatory and business requirements.
Level 5 - Established way of working: This level describes the service-wide proactive GDPR approach with mechanisms for continuous improvement. For the most part, the service is compliant with legislative requirements.

What happened?

This was the first follow up survey on how the Council has changed it's processes to ensure GDPR compliance. It was a really positive result, which showed the good progress Services are making.

What difference did the work make?

The results of this annual assessment and the previous six monthly assessment were pulled together into a report for Information Governance Board, Executive Team and Corporate Governance & Audit Committee.
These two surveys showed the positive progress being made by Services.
