In regards to the Spen Vallley Leisure Centre proposals, complaints were made regarding the absence of a cafe and the positioning of diabled changing facilities on the first floor. There were also comments received regarding the loss of the skate park.

In response to these comments a cafe element will now be included and the changing room has been re-positioned. Regarding the skate park, this was not in the scope of this project but work has started on this separately as a result of the comments.

In October 2019 volunteers from the village, supported by staff from Kirklees Council, were out and about in Shelley. We struck up conversations with citizens whilst you were at community groups, meetings or local venues. We held some drop-in sessions and offered home visits or the option of taking part online. The results can be found here: https://howgoodisourplace.org.uk/2020/01/10/ask-shelley-results/

Shelley Community Association are using the results to help review the Shelley Village Plan. They organised a session to share the results, where people were asked what actions to focus on, based on what we’ve learned. The working group have divided up the themes and actions for further work, exploring what could be feasible to do and identifying who they need to work with. We’ve worked together to create an action plan: https://howgoodisourplace.files.wordpress.com/2020/12/ask-shelley-action-plan.pdf

In response to the Dewsbury Blueprint consultation. Three quarters of respondents felt that the proposals are right for Dewsbury. In reply to the question which one project do you think is the most important to achieving the vision, two projects – relocating council staff into Dewsbury, and reopening the Arcade – were the most important projects to survey respondents.

Kirklees Council’s Cabinet has approved investment which will help deliver key town centre regeneration projects as part of the Dewsbury Blueprint plans. Projects in Dewsbury will have £26million allocated. This will help to deliver the refurbishment of Dewsbury Arcade and more. The council will continue developing and delivering these projects and work will also continue to plan other significant regeneration plans for Dewsbury.

Hello, welcome to Involve

Involve is a tool to help Kirklees Council and local public services, to plan and share community involvement work - like public events, surveys and consultation.

You can use it to find past, present and future involvement across Kirklees. Involve will tell you what's happened since the work has taken place as well, so you can see what difference getting involved has made.

You can use the calendar below to see what's happening, including things you can get involved in yourself.
