We want to overcome social isolation and mental health, by empowering communities to participate more in community life and understand family health related illnesses/issues.

We started off with International Women’s Day, we organised a ‘Feel Good’ event, this encouraged women to sign up to a variety of projects, including a befriending scheme and social activities to help overcome social isolation and mental health. This empowering tool for communities to participate more and become more aware of community issues, and learn what they can do to support them.

We want to provide a safe and supportive space for women to put their needs first and feel more involved in their area. We need professionals to offer their expertise on engaging women to think positively, build trust and feel energised to take the necessary steps to putting their needs first.

We hosted weekly drop on sessions focussing on wellbeing, including practical, social and emotional support targeting vulnerable and socially excluded women in the Batley and Heckmondwike area. There were a range of events and fun activities that were made possible with the help of local volunteers. These activities increased social networks and enabled women to be more actively and meaningfully connected within their communities.

Make your area a better place by implementing projects to support the community via a public voting awards scheme. The winning suggestions can receive funding for their projects to support their area to better.

Held a voting event where 5 out of 6 applications for people to vote on received funding, with a wide range of projects to make your area a better place, such as a Cook and Eat group to promote healthier lifestyles to a weather station for Carlinghow School.

Hello, welcome to Involve

Involve is a tool to help Kirklees Council and local public services, to plan and share community involvement work - like public events, surveys and consultation.

You can use it to find past, present and future involvement across Kirklees. Involve will tell you what's happened since the work has taken place as well, so you can see what difference getting involved has made.

You can use the calendar below to see what's happening, including things you can get involved in yourself.
