Over for another year

In 2011 the main show, K@osmos, came courtesy of Spanish/Argentinean performers Grupo Puja who performed twice on Saturday evening. An aerial ballet, enchanting light garden some of the UK's best street performers also entertained the crowds.

And, as well as street theatre, there was a fantastic winter food and drink market, The Art Market and an abundance of live music performances in bars and venues across the town centre.

If you had chance to join us over the weekend, we hope you had a fabulous time, Festival of Light is delivered by Kirklees Council. This year's event was supported by Welcome to Yorkshire.

Check out this clip from Kirklees Local TV, which shows some of the weekend's highlights.

BBC Look North came to visit the festival, spoke to Kirklees Chief Executive Adrian Lythgo and met some 'interesting' characters.

What people said

Absolutely fantastic!

I loved it, my husband loved it and the kids loved it! It was so good that we weren't bothered about the rain!

Loved it!

Especially the butcher band in the Market Place - I think I enjoyed that the most.

Truly a festival!

The main show was brilliant, but it was the combination of all the different things and the buzzy atmosphere it brought to town gave it that 'festival' feel!

Please keep going!

Excellent event - gets better every year and has become our start of Christmas tradition - Well done.

Loved it all!

The art market, snowmen, giant lobster, fire jugglers, flying machine and live music stage. Food festival was great too.

Lots to see and do!

The spread of events over the town centre was excellent. the lights in St Peter’s Garden were awesome
