Wild About Countryside in Kirklees
Countryside walks and activities designed to introduce you to the fun and fascination of our local countryside and other green spaces.
More informationIn Kirklees you are never far from some wonderful scenery whether it be moorland uplands, the steep-sided Holme and Colne Valleys or woodlands and gentler rolling fields to the north and east.
To the west the Colne Valley features interesting villages such as Golcar and Scapegoat Hill with their weavers' cottages. Marsden, at the head of the valley, has strong historical links with the Luddites and is the start of the Standedge Trail. To the south is the Holme Valley - "Summer Wine Country" - with its picturesque villages surrounded by moorlands.
Kirklees is ideal walking or cycling country with many long-distance trails in or very near the area.
Once you've found your feet or pedals, you might want to try one of the many local groups who explore our countryside.
