- A community led event for the whole family.
The hall is packed with activities, with stalls, craft workshops, face painting and refreshments.
Downstairs, Santa has a grotto and the Library is delivering storytelling sessions and craft workshops 2pm-3:30pm.
A fair takes place in the Mechanics Institute with performances from local schools and groups on the hour every hour, the last performance starts at 5pm. This ends around 5:30pm with a raffle prize draw, prize for the 'find how many elfs' competition and a trophy awarded to the winner with the best shop window display.
Outside from 4:30pm to 6pm we have street performers including Jack Frost, Thieving Magpies, Unity choir, Marsden Junior Silver Band and a guest visit from Santa on his sleigh.
Why not amble around and enjoy an offering of mulled wine, BBQ food and a selection of treats on sale from local shops.
The lights are switched on at 6pm and the event ends with a performance on the bridge by our local fire dancers Hellfyre Magpie. Many pubs will provide entertainment/bands to help continue the celebration of the event.
