Change is an ambitious project co-ordinated by Mosaic and Batley Girls' High School and involving primary schools and local arts groups in the Batley & Birstall area. After a planning and set-up phase in autumn 2011, between January and April 2012 participating schools/groups will host their own creative 'mini-projects' around the idea of 'change'. Each school/group will be invited to choose Changing Views, Changing Places or Changing Times as the theme for their project and will select Photography, Journals, Postcards, Tapestry or Mapping as the medium/activity through which to creatively explore their chosen theme. We hope there's plenty of inspiration and scope there for you to start dreaming up project ideas - but we'll help if needed.
The project has been planned as a way of inviting both children and adults to get involved in exploring new creative ideas and learning new creative skills. It also aims to bring people together in new ways by enabling groups of different ages and from different parts of the Batley & Birstall community to link up and share their creative experiences and journeys with each other. So as well as exploring different aspects of 'change', the idea of groups making new connections and enjoying creative exchanges is also firmly at the heart of the project.
