Locality profiles
Andy Shackleton - November 2011
andy.shackleton@kirklees.gov.uk
Information by localities, e.g. population estimates, recorded crime, unemployment, council tax benefit recipients, welfare benefits and other information. The Kirklees district has been divided into 117 localities using information from Royal Mail, Ordnance Survey and Kirklees Council. The locality boundaries are based on our best understanding of the prevailing address geography and have no legal or administrational status. There is uncertain or conflicting information about the locality of some areas of Kirklees so if you have evidence that our definition of a locality is wrong, please send an email to gazetteer@kirklees.gov.uk. Localities replace settlements, you can still view and download the settlement profiles, however there will be no more updates of them in this style.
Localities are available from the Kirklees Observatory. Once on the site, look for a small map on the left hand side and select the Localities link below the map and select a profile.
The Kirklees Observatory is part of the West Yorkshire Observatory. It allows the user to download profiles and tables of statistics, as well as enabling creation of custom profiles and tables. Profiles are automatically updated with the most current data on the system. Data can also be mapped and displayed as charts. The kirklees Observatory is also where research resources, documents and reports can be accessed.
