Local towns include Batley, Dewsbury and Huddersfield (former pre-1974 local authority areas - Huddersfield County Borough, Dewsbury County Borough and Batley Municipal Borough). There are also eight Urban Districts (former pre-1974 local authority areas). Some Urban Districts are also classed as Civil Parishes. 1991 Census figures are shown underneath Census 2001 figures in red italics where available. Topics covered include population, ethnic group, religion, limiting long-term illness, health, economic activity and unemployment, employment by industry and occupation, National Statistics Socio-economic Classification, qualifications, household tenure, car ownership and type of accommodation. Comparative figures for Kirklees and England and Wales are also shown. |
