A wealth of information...
A wealth of information is available from the 2001 Census and this section helps to illustrate how the Office for National Statistics has chosen to disseminate the statistics. Due to space constraints much of the information accessed below is only at the Kirklees district level. However, Key Statistics are available by the 2004 wards (current), and can be accessed from the Key Statistics link below.

Census Area Statistics and Census Area Statistics Theme tables
Census Area Statistics are Census 2001 cross-tabulations covering all major census topics. The full range of tables contain 6,000 different numbers or 'counts' and are available at output area level and above. Output areas are the smallest areas for which data is available (1,287 areas cover the whole Kirklees area). Theme tables are Census 2001 cross-tabulations covering a limited number of census topics (e.g. children, pensioners, ethnic group, religion).

Standard tables
Standard tables are Census 2001 cross-tabulations covering all major census topics. The full range of tables contain 25,000 different numbers or 'counts' and are only available at electoral ward level and above.
Key Statistics
2001 Census Key Statistics for Kirklees Wards, North and South Kirklees, West Yorkshire Districts, West Yorkshire and England and Wales.

Key Statistics are Census 2001 tables available at output area level and above. Output areas are the smallest areas for which data is available (1,287 areas cover the whole Kirklees area).

The Key Statistics cover all main census topics and are designed as indicators to be presented as percentages in a limited number of simple tables. Visit the ONS website for data for other areas of the country (including output areas).

Univariate tables
Univariate tables are Census 2001 tables available at output area level and above. Output areas are the smallest areas for which data is available (1,287 areas cover the whole Kirklees area). Univariate tables are very simple tables covering a limited number of Census Topics.

Theme tables
Theme tables are Census 2001 cross-tabulations covering a limited number of census topics (e.g. children, pensioners, ethnic group, religion). Theme tables are part of the Standard tables and are only available at electoral ward level and above.
